I am 95% finished with a new word document and it's suddenly frozen. By frozen, I mean all I get is a white arrow for the cursor. Anywhere I click in the document does not change the arrows behavior. Any where I click in the menus does not change the arrow. If I right click on the logo in the task bar and choose close, it does nothing. Sep 26, 2019 how to unfreeze a work document screen I was typing a word document and I hit some key which caused the cursor to change to a pointer move to top of document (I was on page 5) and completely locked/froze the screen. Can't use the tool bar. The document stays on the screen. I have office 365 with Word 2016 on windows 10. I have had this problem with 2 different users and I have not found the commonality yet. Word will get stuck on one document. The user will have 5 or 6 open but you can not switch to the other documents. You can not click on anything on the screen. If that still doesn’t do the trick, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete again and click the Power icon (shown here) in the screen’s bottom-right corner. Choose Restart from the pop-up menu, and your computer shuts down and restarts, hopefully returning in a better mood.

A bookmark in Word works like a bookmark you might place in a book: it marks a place that you want to find again easily. You can enter as many bookmarks as you want in your document or Outlook message, and you can give each one a unique name so they’re easy to identify.
To add a bookmark, you first mark the bookmark location in your document. After that, you can jump to the location or add links to it within your document or Outlook message. You can also delete bookmarks from a document or Outlook message.
How Do I Unfreeze My Word Document
Bookmark the location
Select text, a picture, or a place in your document where you want to insert a bookmark.
Click Insert > Bookmark.
Under Bookmark name, type a name and click Add.
Note: Bookmark names need to begin with a letter. They can include both numbers and letters, but not spaces. If you need to separate words, you can use an underscore ( _ )—for example, First_heading.

After creating your bookmarks, you can add links to them within your document or jump to them at any time.
Jump to a bookmark
Type Ctrl+G to open the Go To tab in the Find and Replace box. Under Go to what, click Bookmark. Enter or select the bookmark name, and then click Go To.

Select the text or object you want to use as a hyperlink.
Right-click and then click Hyperlink .
Under Link to, click Place in This Document.
In the list, select the heading or bookmark that you want to link to.

Delete a bookmark
Click Insert > Bookmark.
Click either Name or Location to sort the list of bookmarks in the document.
Click the name of the bookmark you want to delete, and then click Delete.
If you have inserted a hyperlink to the deleted bookmark, right-click the linked text and then click Remove Hyperlink.
